ELOQUENT NUDE: THE LOVE AND LEGACY OF EDWARD WESTON & CHARIS WILSON

When Charis Wilson, a young and beautiful woman of 19, met photographer Edward Weston (1886-1958) in 1934, they fell instantly in love. Setting off across the West with camera and typewriter in the depths of the Great Depression, the couple transformed photography and each other, taking over 1,500 photographs during their travels. She became his muse, model and artistic collaborator. Now aged 91, Charis Wilson recounts her years with Weston with great humour, candour, and some regret. The film offers insights from leading art scholars, along with dozens of rare and never-before-seen works from such luminaries as Weston, Ansel Adams, Dorothea Lange and Imogen Cunningham. In addition, re-enacted scenes shot in grainy black-and-white 8 mm film convincingly depict the couple's story of love and loss, travel and adventure, and the making of modern photography.
