![]() In 2006, choreographer-dancer Paul-André Fortier first presented his Solo 30 x 30 in five cities on three continents. Designed to give the urban public a new perspective on dance, this 30-minute site-specific work was presented outside for 30 consecutive days at the same time and place. Nine hundred minutes of shared intimacy between a city and "a man who dances," an expression Fortier prefers to "dancer." At age 58, long past most dancers' retirement age, it presented a considerable challenge. Shot in Newcastle, Nancy, Ottawa, Yamaguchi and Montreal, this film is based on Fortier's logbook, read by the artist himself. In rain or shine, in wind and hail, we follow the dancer in outdoor locales where passersby were least likely to expect a dance performance. Biography Yannick B. Gélinas works in the field of video and new media. She received a B.A. in communications (film option) and an Master's in multimedia from UQAM.
