| ROBERT WILSON: VIDEO PORTRAITS |
| United States/2007/Betacam/colour/27 min/english | |||||
![]() Between 2004 and 2006, American visual artist and theatre/opera director Robert Wilson created over fifty video portraits featuring movie stars, Nobel Prize-winning authors, animals and ordinary people. Although inspired by influences as diverse as mythology, popular culture, Rembrandt, Hitchcock, and pure light and colour, Wilson refuses to ascribe meaning to the portraits. "Inspiration is for others," he says. "To fix a meaning to a work limits its poetry and the possibility of other ideas. They are personal, poetic statements of different personalities: a man from the street, an animal, a child, superstars, gods of our time." From Paris to Los Angeles, this film chronicles the creation of these unique works of art, offering a behind-the-scenes look at some of the world's most celebrated personalities as they are transformed into Wilson's extraordinary visions. Robert Wilson is at work with Princess Caroline, Salma Hayek, Roselee Goldberg, Graydon Carter, MacCauley Culkin, Bob Israel and Bob Colacello. Biography Born in California, Marina Zenovich is an independent producer and filmmaker. She studied at the University of Southern California. She is on the programming committee of the Slamdance Film Festival and the American Cinematheque in Los Angeles. Filmography Independent's Day (1998) ; Who Is Bernard Tapie?
