Now in its 37th year, the International Festival of Films on Art (FIFA) invites people to discover artists and the process through which they bring their works to life. With its rich lineup that gives pride of place to creators from the world of film and media arts, FIFA has earned a special place in the hearts of Montréal audiences.

As Minister of Canadian Heritage and Multiculturalism, I would like to thank everyone who helped make FIFA 2019 possible. I applaud your efforts to increase audiences’ knowledge and appreciation of art.

For a 37th year, The International Festival of Films on Art (FIFA) will bring together numerous stakeholders of the film and audiovisual industries.

This Festival contributes to the international visibility of local productions and to the growth of our film industry. In fact, Montréal is a city of creators that provides the perfect setting for such a cultural event.

I encourage Montrealers to come enjoy this great film festival, and I wish all organizers, producers and artists a very successful event.

Rare glimpses behind the scenes of the creative process are on offer at the International Festival of Films on Art (FIFA). Keenly attuned to all that’s new in arts-related documentaries, the Festival immerses audience members in the rich and unique worlds of artists working in film, music, dance, literature, visual arts, and other artistic fields. The programming is exclusive and the films, from here and abroad, are sure to inspire and inform regular movie-goers and film buffs alike.
The Conseil is delighted to renew its support for FIFA, which is instrumental in raising the profile of cinema, the 7th art.

Festivals play a vital role in ensuring that Canadian films from all regions of our country are discovered and enjoyed, and that Canadian talent is in the spotlight. The International Festival of Films on Art provides a unique opportunity to do just that!

At Telefilm Canada, we are committed to seeing even bigger; and are supported in this endeavour by a growing number of public and private partners, both Canadian and foreign.

Our focus is on diversity, a great Canadian asset. We encourage the next generation to dare to make their first feature films. Indigenous filmmakers now enjoy more support, and we have seen our industry come together to support the shared goal of gender parity. We know that these voices will revitalize Canada’s rich cultural heritage and ensure its bright future.

Enjoy the festival!
