In this film, carried by a strong and deeply evocative musical score, dancer and choreographer Shantala Shivalingappa embodies the presence and distinctive qualities of Bhairava, the Hindu deity, with her technical mastery and refined expressivity.

Philip Szporer

Philip Szporer has been immersed in the Canadian dance world for the past 35 years as a lecturer, critic, and filmmaker. He currently teaches dance history and culture at Concordia University’s Department of Contemporary Dance, and the Loyola College for Diversity and Sustainability. In 2001, Szporer and Marlene Millar co-founded the arts film production company Mouvement Perpétuel. Together, they have directed and produced numerous award-winning documentaries and short dance films, as well as projection installation works.

Marlene Millar

Marlene Millar has been creating dance-media projects for over 20 years. Independently and through Mouvement Perpétuel, co-founded with Philip Szporer, she has won numerous awards internationally for her dance films. With a background in contemporary dance and design, Montreal filmmaker Marlene Millar is active in the filmmaking community, and a long standing member of the Documentary Organization of Canada.
