Synopsis

North American Premiere

Novelist, actress, playwright, and erotic dancer, Colette (1873–1954) lived life to the fullest, constantly reinventing herself in words, scandals, and metamorphoses. From peasant to icon of the Belle Époque, her extraordinary life is retold in this documentary, painting a picture of a woman who defied religion and social norms to live life on her own terms. This pioneer in autobiographical fiction turned herself into a literary figure, brought to life before us through a myriad of archival images and videos.

This film will also be presented in Montreal on March 23rd and 31st.
