Synopsis

This animated short film is the graduate thesis for an MFA at the School of Visual Arts in New York. Moree Wu’s project takes a fresh look at fashion as a way to express female empowerment. The strong visual language used by the Chinese-born filmmaker replaces the narrative with sensitive, rhythmic geometry and abstraction.

Moree Wu is a graphic designer and animator from China. She received her MFA in computer art from the School of Visual Arts in New York (2016). She is inspired by the relationship between design, illustration, motion and positive thinking. Her graduate short film Cut to Bliss: Force of Fashion (2016) has been featured on Vimeo, Movidiam and Show Me the Animation. It has also been officially selected for many film festivals, including FIFA, KROK, Animation Block Party, Miami Independent Film Festival, Encounters Short Film and Animation Festival.
