Synopsis

Presented in partnership with Danse Danse

Art, politics and motorcycles lie at the heart of this intimate portrait of British writer and art critic John Berger, who died in January 2017 at the age of 90. Fascinated by visual perception his entire life, he helped shape our ways of seeing through his groundbreaking insights. His four-part BBC series Ways of Seeing opened the eyes of a whole generation. Working on an astonishing range of topics and art forms, he never lost his belief and lifelong interest in dialogue, which over five decades led to some of the most unusual artistic collaborations. This creative documentary by Cordelia Dvorák takes a different approach to biography, wherein Berger himself, in his favourite role as storyteller, describes the ways in which he sees today’s world.
