This documentary on the creation and rehearsals of La Grande Fugue, a dance performance presented by the Ballet de l’Opéra de Lyon, unveils the work of American choreographer Lucinda Childs. With sensitivity and generosity, Childs explores the numerous possibilities of a choreographic phrase, applying her minimalist style to Beethoven’s music. From the rehearsal hall to the public performance of the completed work, viewers joyfully rediscover Beethoven’s famous piece, magnified and energized by the dancers’ splendid work.

Marie-Hélene Rebois is a filmmaker, she is passionate about dance and movement. She films dancers at work, on stage or in rehearsal. She makes documentary films about famous choreographers, and more particularly about the memory of the body and the cultural heritage of contemporary dance.
