Peter Lindbergh is one of the few German photographers in the upper echelon of artists who have shaped the world of fashion and advertising. His timeless portraits of women, at once realistic and cinematic, are famous, but few know his name. Lindbergh’s high contrast black-and-white photos are inspired by Expressionist films of the 1920s. He attempts to photograph women with whom we can identify, women who are free and natural. His style ushered in a new aesthetic approach to fashion photography. In this film by Gero von Boehm, we discover the personality of this rigorous artist and his distinctive “vérité” images.
