For the last eight years, the Festival de contes et légendes Atalukan, held in Mashteuiatsh (Pointe-Bleue), Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, has sought to revive oral traditions, a foundational part of First Nations
culture. This Claude Hamel documentary dives into the universe of eight female storytellers through their festival performances. The poetry and words of these inspiring artists, including Joséphine Bacon, Natasha Kanapé Fontaine, and Festival director Sonia Robertson, are a celebration of primeval forces, painting rich landscapes, alive with captivating legends and tales, accompanied by magnificent Innu songs.

This film will also be presented in Montreal on March 23th and 30th.
