5.30 PM | Mitislav Rostropovith, l’archet indomptable

Violoncellist and conductor Mstislav Rostropovich, a celebrity of the music world since the 1950s, left the USSR in 1972, establishing himself in Paris before moving to Washington. This film evokes his out of the ordinary journey, pieced together through rare archived footage and testimonies from his family.

Daughter of piano giants Martha Argerich and Stephen Kovacevich, director Stéphanie Argerich offers a captivating view of her matriarchal family that tends to stand out from the ordinary. A self-portrait of an intense and thrilling clan.

This event is one of the most considered cultural achievements in Canada. His mandate is to raise awareness for classical music through the discovery of young talent in an international competition context.

​The 17th edition of the Concours musical International de Montréal will take place from May 27th to June 7th: the first week (May 29th to June 3rd) at the Salle Bourgie and the second week (June 4th to 7th) to the Maison Symphonique where the singers will perform with the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal. This concourse is like the Olympics of classical music and this year, lyrical sing will be under the spotlights.
